Nov. 19, 1962 - Paul Ngei ? the Kamba Leader ? Quits Kanu. Paul Ngei ? the Kamba Leader ? announced during the week end that he is to quit Kanu ? and announced the formation of a new political party for the Kamba people. Minutes after revealing his decision at Machakos a crowd of 7, 000 supporters ripped up their Kanu party cards and receipts. These supporters went wild with delight - and riot troops wore gas masks - in case they had to use tear gas - but luckily order was restored - and it was not necessary.
