Feb. 22, 1965 - The Man Who Waits in a Waffle Hut.. Joshua Nkomo - Detainee at GonaKudzingwa.. GonaKudzingwa - situated 400 miles from Salisbury in southern Rhodesia - is where 450of the country's best educated Africans are held in a restriction camp.. The Government have sent them there for terms ranging from one to four years because they regarded them as a danger to law and order. Leader of the detained men is Joshua Nkomo leader of the baned African People's Union. Some of the detainee have hteir own huts - while the others live in dormitories. Everyone reports once a weel to police at the nearby station which controls the Mozambique border.. So far nobody has tried to escape - for while life there is rather uncomfortable - it is not unbearable. Nkomo and other leading detainees will meet British Ministers Arthur Bottomley and Lord Gardiner who are arriving there today..
