1971 - Mobuto visits Japan.: General Joseph D. Mobuto, president of the Congo Republic has arrived in Japan with his wife on a nine-day official visit to promote close relations between the two countries, following the signing of their first trade agreement last Novermber. Photo shows President Mobuto salutes as the national anthems of Japan and the Congo are played, with him on the stand is his wife, and the Emperor and Empress of Japan, who were at the Tokyo Airport to welcome him to Japan
