Jul. 07, 1973 - Who says black is beautiful? These four youngesters from Xhosa tribe, living in South Africa, evidently think differently, for they seem to enjoy their present appearance a lot. They have applied a mixture of clay and ashes to their faces and bodies as is customary to do on special occasions for the Xhosa tribesmen. Though not only children paste such a mixture on themselves but the women of this African tribe try also, to enhance their beauty by its means. The Xhosa tribe lives in a part of the South African Republic which is called Transkei. it is partly an autonomous state within South African Republic, There are 1, 4 million people living in this region, who belong to different tribes but all of them speak the native Xhosa dialect.
