1975 - Sithole in Tanzania: The Rev. Ndabaningi Sithole, leader of the former Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) African National Union(ZANU), had been in prison and detention in Rhodesia for nearly eleven years before his release earlier in 1975. He had only been free for a few weeks, however, before the Smith regime put him back in detention on charges of allegedly plotting against his fellow-Nationalists.
