Jun. 30, 1972 - Third largest Diamond shown to the Press: There was a Press Conference today at the Sierra Leone High Commission, Portland Palace, London at which H.E. Dr. Davidson Nicol, High Commissioner of Sierra Leone, showed the Star of Sierra Leone diamond to the Press. This Diamond, found in Sierra Leone on 14th. February, is the third largest rough diamond in ever discovered. It is at present in London Prior to its sale, through the Central Selling Organisation, in July. The diamond, which is 2 1/2 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide and weighs half a pound, was said at the Press Conference by the High Commissioner, to be worth a million pounds of more.
