Nov. 11, 1977 - Security Council Unanimously Imposes Mandatory Arms Embargo Against South Africa: The Security Council this afternoon voted unanimously to impose a mandatory arms embargo against south Africa, under Chapter VII of the Charter. The Council acted by adopting a draft resolution which the president of the Council, Hansur R. Kikhia (Libya), said had been prepared in the Course of intensive Consultations among members. Hansur R. Kikhia, President of the Council, making a statement. At right is Arkady W. Shevchenko, Under-Secretary- General for Political and Security Council Affairs
