Jun. 06, 1979 - Mr Marais Viljoen takes over as President of South Africa: President of Vorster of South Africa resigned in disgrace yesterday after the final report of the Erasmus Commission of Inquiry into the Muldergate scandal said he had full knowledge of all the irregularities of the former Department of Information. And shared the blame for all of the irregular actions of Dr. Connie Mulder, former Information Minister. Taking as acting President is Mr. Marais Viljoen.
