Sep. 09, 1975 - Two Teenaged British Girls Sent to Prison in Nairobi For Foreign Currency Smuggling: Two teenaged British girls, on trial in Nairobi for foreign currency smuggling, were hauled away weeping to prison after pleading guilty to some of the charges yesterday. The magistrate ruled they would stay in custody while he considered sentence, Teresa Ann Laws, 14 and Lynn Francis, 16, both from Woolwich London, had denied committing the offences, but changed their pleas. The girls, beings tried on four charges in voling an alleged attempt to smuggle £120, 000 in foreign currency out of Kenya after a ten-day holiday there, face spending at least the weekend in a Kenya women's prison. The man mentioned as being behind the smuggling, Mr. Madhusudan Madhubai Patel, is said to be in Switzerland.
