Aug. 08, 1956 - Dai Dower prepares for National service call-up.: Dai Dower the British Empire and European Flyweight Boxing Champion - has had his medical examination in readiness for his National Service Call-up. The call-up went through owing to complaints by some of his former-friends that a check-up should be made regarding the amount of time he had put in the mine-where he works - in a reserved occupation. He is said to have put in only one day at the colliery since his past fight with Parisian Joseph Dionisdo in Cardiff on July 16th. Photo shows Dai Dower and his wife Evelyn put in some work in the garden of their new home in Bournemouth - yesterday
