Aug. 08, 1956 - Dai Dower prepares for National service call-up.: Dai Dower the British Empire and European Flyweight Boxing Champion - has had his medical examination in readiness for his National Service Call-up. The call-up went through owing to complaints by some of his former-friends that a check-up should be made regarding the amount of time he had put in the mine-where he works - in a reserved occupation. He is said to have put in only one day at the colliery since his past fight with Parisian Joseph Dionisdo in Cardiff on July 16th.
