The shopping safely stored in the panniers on Rosie's back, Mr. Sargeaunt starts for hoke. He first user Rosie to carry the shopping last winter when the snow was too thick to use the car, and it's been Rosie's regular job ever since. Rosie The Donkey Goes shopping - in readiness for bridle path pilgrimage.: Next June, Mr. A.Sargeaunt, 72 - years - old ex - soldier and his wife of Lodge Farm, Wenston Turville, Bucks, are setting out on a ten day holiday to trace the ancient bridle paths of England - accompanied by their own donkey, Rose. They first got the idea after reading Robert Louis Stevenson's Travels With a Donkey: They will make the journey in a horse box converted into a caravan, drawn by a horse, with Rosie used to being a pack animal. Mr. Sargeaunt takes her shopping in the village with two baskets slung over her back. Rosie love the journey especially as she calls at the local pub on the journey donkey because Mr. Sargeaunt bought her three years ago when she was underfed and was going to be taken to the Slaughter House
