They first got the idea after reading Robert Louis Stevenson's Travels With a Donkey: They will make the journey in a horse box converted into a caravan, drawn by a horse, with Rosie used to being a pack animal. Mr. Sargeaunt takes her shopping in the village with two baskets slung over her back. Rosie love the journey especially as she calls at the local pub on the journey donkey because Mr. Sargeaunt bought her three years ago when she was underfed and was going to be taken to the Slaughter House
