Mar. 02 Spring Lambs Present Problems: Down on the Gibbs Haven Farm, near East Grinstead, Sussex the lambs are doing things not only in double and triple numbers, but on one ocassion in quadruple. in the last forghtnight more than 130 of them have been born, including 1 set of quads, 13sets of triplets and 47 sets of twins. And because of the abnormally high numbers-over 200 per cent above normal-four-year-old Glen Alford has found himself a job. the son of one of the farm's employees, glen is acting as foster mother to one lamb from each triplet set as the ewe can only provide for two. this is one way of keeping him down on the farm.
