Nov. 22, 1963 - Three Mile Chase, When Maddened Heifer Ran Amok. ?Street Rodeo?, Lasts for an Hour. Eight policemen a crowd of drovers and many passerby joined in the chase through the streets of Manchester yesterday, when a maddened heifer ran amok. A woman was knocked down by the frightened animal and badly injured, and a number of cars and vans were damaged in the chase which lasted for an hour. The animal was eventually caught by Police Constable John Oliver. It has escaped from the Manchester abattoir. When it was finally cornered its legs were trussed with rope but it died in the pavement before abattoir workers could arrive with humane killers.
