Jul. 07, 1967 - French tomatoes growers Jetison forty tons of tomatos.: Disconted tomato growers in France have been rebelling against the low market prices. Their rebellion took the very active form of chucking 40 tons of tomatoes into the river Durance. The area around the Durance is one of the biggest tomato growing parts of France. Meanwhile in Paris tomatos are selling at 1, 10frs or 90 frs a kilo - the growers were offered 10 and 20 frs a kilo. Photo shows the tomato growers of Chateurenard ( at the mouth of the Rhone) dumping the tomatoes into the river Durance
