Jan. 16, 1971 - The grape harvesting will start in the village of Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape, the famous vineyard of Cotes du Rhone, in the Vaucluse. Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape is the only village where a very old tradition goes that wine makers, after having tasted the grapes of different areas, define the exact date of the grape harvests. No wine maker would think about breaking this tradition that goes back to 1775, and that was reintroduced in the village in 1962
