Jul. 07, 1971 - Hop Harvest in the Hallertau/Bavaria (West Germany) Only a few handworkers'.... nowadays can be seen during the harvest. The Romance, but better the hard, heavy work, has disappeared in the hop fields to make room for technical progressing. About 8000 modern hop picking machines are used in West Germany now to harvest the green gold'. This years result doesn't promise to become as good as as in 1970. This photo was taken in the Hallertau/Bavaria, the largest German Hop acreage. (4/5 of the whole German acreage)
