1968 - Nine years of work that may never fly - Former engineer BILL FRANCIS has spent nine years making his dream come trueaAfter 2, 000 or more hours of work he is close to his goal. He is building his own spitfire. From the garage he owns in Southam, Warwick shire he is hoping to be able to taxi the plane out onto a runway. But it never leave the grounds. Bill has never learned to fly. He explains: worked with them on the ground during the war and my ambition is to complete and taxi the plane. If I get it into flying condition then I may consider learning to fly. But that is definitely second priority.
