Aug. 08, 1948 - Largest Plane for Berlin Lift Carries 23 tons of Flour. The huge American C74 Globemaster made its first flight to Berlin from Frankfurt recently, carrying 23 tons of flour for the Berlin population. The plane made a precarious landing on the new runway at Gatow, which is the only one big enough to take such a plane in Berlin.
