Jul. 07, 1948 - First Air Coal Arrives in Berlin: The first loads of coal to be delivered by air reached Berlin yesterday in American Skymasters, formerly used as troop carriers, About 5, 000 soldiers kitbags, each containing slightly less than one owt. were carried in 25 planes. The coal about 200 tons, was unloaded down wooden chutes from the aircraft into German loories at Templehof airfield.
