Jan. 01, 1953 - Air-Crash hostess cries Pray-Hard'j and the prayers were heard. Passengers unhurt: Twenty-three year old air hostess Miss Philomena McCluskey of Dublin, realising that the Dublin-to-Birmingham airliner in which she and 22 passengers were travelling was about to crash yesterday, told passengers to fasten their safety belts and asked them to pray hard, and with bowed heads the passengers prayed. Their prayers were answered. The plane, a twin - engined Dakota crash-landed in a Warwickshire field. There was no fire and the 22 passengers walked out unhurt. It was a miracle chance-in-a-thousand escape and airline officials toasted Captain Tommy Hanley, who, literally had brought his plane in on a wing and a prayer.
