Aug. 31, 1953 - 31-8-53 Neville Duke attempts World Speed Record chats to the onlookers Squadron Leader Neville Duke this evening made attempts on the world speed record of 715.09 m.p.h. at present held by an American in a Sabre Jet. He made the flights from Tangmere aerodrome, nr. Littlehampton on a Hawker Hunter Jet. To recapture the record he will have to reach a speed of 722.847 m.p.h.
