Aug. 06, 1953 - Four Airmen Picked Up From Atlantic-After Atom Bomber Crashes: Four airmen were picked up alive in the Atlantic last night, more than 12 hours after they had baled out from an American Corvair, the world's largest plane and atom bomber, which crashed in flames just before dawn. The freighter, Manchester Shipper, also found two bodies; a third body was taken aboard by a French ship, making 16 of the 23 officers and men in the Corvair still missing.
