Dec. 12, 1953 - First Public Flight of the Anti Submarine Aircraft. Britain's new anti submarine aircraft The Seanew made its first public flught at Belfast today. It can operate from escort and merchant aircraft carriers, and problems of N.A.T.O. countries were specifically considered by Short's design team when the Seamew was conceived. Object of the Seamew id to provide a cheap, simple and rugged aircraft which can be produced easily and, at the same time, meet satisfactorily all the operational requirements of the Navy.
