1956 - The fastest men on Earth. The fastest man on earth (unofficial) met the fastest man (official) yesterday. Holder of the official record is Britain's Peter Twiss, who did 1, 32 miles an hour in a droop snoot fairey Delta, and with him yesterday in London was Lieut Colonel Charles Chuck Yeager, whose, 650 miles an hour in a rocket boosted aircraft is unofficial.
