1956 - For Those in Peril on the Sea.: Britain's Royal Air Force has received a delivery of new helicopters for rescue work around Britain's island coast. In the first two months of this year nearly 70 lives were saved by helicopter operated by the Royal Navy and the R.A.F. in a recent rescue from a shipwrecked tug a Westland Whirlwind, the R.A.F.s standard rescue helicopter, lifted to safety as many as ten of the crew in one flight.
