1957 - Mr.Miles Introduces New Transport Plane-The HDM 105. Will Cut Cost Of Short Trips By About One Third. Mr. Frederick Miles and his family yesterday introduced the HDM 105 transport aircraft - which he claims is a super-safe machine and with which he can cut the cost of short distance air flights. This machine brings the Miles company back into the aircraft business - for the first time since hi company crashed - bankrupt to the tune of £500, 000 ten years ago. The new machine incorporates a revolutionary new wing by veteran French plane designer M. Marcel Hurel - and it is designed to carry 16 passengers or one motor car or a ton and a half of freight. It can operate from very small airfields near city centres and even from tropical mountain airstrips. The new aircraft will be produced in cooperation with the French firm of Hurel Dubois - and will only cost about £25, 000 - a very low figure for such a machine.
