Feb. 02, 1957 - First B.O.A.C. Britannia - Goes Into Service. leaves London For South Africa. The first of many B.O.A.C. Britannia long range propeller turbine air liners - left London Airport this morning for its first service flight to Johannesburg. The machine is claimed to be the largest-quietest and most economical airliner flying anywhere in the world.
