Jul. 26, 1957 - French Parachutist Beats World's Free Jumping Record. Jean Coupe, Test parachutist, army trainer, yesterday set up a new world's record of free jumping near Toulouse. He jumped from an altitude of 7.500 meters. The previous record was held by Led Valentin (6, 300 meters). OPS: Jean Cope on landing
