Mar. 03, 1958 - Vickers Valiant Refuels In Flight. The striking capacity of the R.A.F.'s Valiant Jet Bomber Force will soon be extended by the use of in-flight refuelling. The British Probe and Drogue system has been successfully flight tested with the aircraft, and many of the machines in R.A.F. squadron service have built-in provision for flight refuelling and can be readily converted to either the tanker or receiver role. Keystone Photo Shows:- A Receiver Valiant and a Tanker Valiant during refuelling in the air. Note the tanker aircraft's under-wing tanks. These contain 1, 645 Imperial gallons each and are the largest fitted to any type of aircraft
