The Bristol 200 has been designed as the ultimate sub-sonie short range airliner with a cruising speed in excess of 600 miles per hour (965 km/hr) and able to carry up to 100 passengers over ranges between 300 and 1, 700 miles (482-2735 km). The fundamental design consideration in the Bristol 200 has been its exceptionally high power/weight ration which enables the aircraft to climb at a speed only a little below its high sub-sonic cruising speed, and also makes possible the use of the smaller airfields usually associated with the type of short-haul routes for which the aircraft is intended.
