1959 - Battersea helicopter terminal nears completion.: Work nears completion on the new London helicopter terminal - A T shaped landing platform on the south bank of the Thames at Battersea. Constructed for the WEstland Aircraft Company at a cost of about £60, 000 - the terminal has a control tower - tractor house - and administrative buildings, and 2 car parks. It will be capable of taking the largest British and American machines at present in use. Photo shows a Westland Widegeon helicopter on the landing apron - of the new heliport at Battersea this afternoon
