Dec. 12, 1958 - U.S. Sabre Jet Crashes In Village: One woman was killed and two people injured when a U.S. Super Sabre jet fighter crashed in flames in the Suffolk Village of Xesgrave, yesterday. The pilot, Lieut. Charles L. Prescott, of the 79th U.S. Tactical Fighter Squadron baled out by using his ejector seat, after trying to turn his plane, which went out of control and fire, towards the North Sea. Photo Shows Fireman seen smidct the debris after yesterday's crash.the jet hit a garage and exploded. the garages, a house and a bungalow were wrecked. Eight empty caravans were destroyed
