Jun. 06, 1956 - U.S. Airline President Flies Britain's Biggest: Mr. Robert F. Six, President of Continental Airlines Inc. on a visit to the Bristol Airplane Company factory at Filton, England, tried out Britain's biggest airliner, the Bristol Britannia. Mr. Six was accompanied by his wife, Ethel Merman. On order for three airlines - British Overseas Airways, Canadian Pacific Airliners, and E1 A1 Israel Airlines- the 100-passenger Britannia will be the first really big turbo-propeller airliner to go into regular service.
