Mar. 03, 1957 - Four Nations Now Use Same Helicopter The recent signing of a contract by the Federal German Government for 50 Bristol 171 Mk 14 Sycamore helicopters made it a total of four nations now using the British Whirlybird. The others are the British Army and Air Force, the Australian Navy and Air Force and the Belgian Air Force. Picture shows: The first of the German 50 of Bristol Sycamore test flying in Britain. Five seaters powered by a 550 bhp Alvis Leonides engine, Sycamore have proved them selves in all types of climate throughout the world
