Jul. 07, 1955 - M. Jean Salis Still Waits Favourable Weather For His 1909 Repeat Channel Flight. The weather is still not quite perfect - for the proposed flight across the Channel by M. Jean Salis - in a replica of the 1909 aircraft used by Bleriot.. The weather has to be perfectly calm for the frail machine.. M. Salis hopes to make the flight within a day or so - so that he can beat his rival - M. Jean de la Bruyere who intends to make the same flight - in his own replica of the Bleriot machine - but which at the moment is held up. It is due at Calais from Canada. Keystone Photo Shows:- M. Jean Salis, his wife Rachel; his son Jean (18) and daughter Irene (14) - testing the wind as they wait at Calais - for the flight
