Aug. 08, 1955 - Canbera -Mark 7 Leaves For Record Attempt - London To New York And Back: A Canberra Mark 7 photographic reconnaissance aircraft off the English Electric Company -- left London Airport this morning on a return flight to New York. She is piloted by John William Hackett and Peter Moneypenny in his Navigator -- both of Silver City Airways. The distance to be covered is 6, 920 statute smiles.. it is hoped that a new record will be set up.
