Feb. 26 United States Air Forces Strategic Air Command Global Mission: air force's Strategic Air Command has evolved into one of the most amazing operations in American Military history. Its activities extend from bases throughout the United States to England and North Africa its machines being capable of reaching targets anywhere in the world. The command is headed by general Curtis Le May and is one of the most powerful segments of the U.S. Air Force. Headquarters of SAG is at Omaha, Nebraska - but actual operations take place at the scattered bases here and overseas. Staratejets and other machines of the command average speeds in excess of 600 m.p.h on non stop Atlantic crossings. The newest machine being tested fro the command is the B-52 Stratofortress now in production at the Boeing Aircraft Company Plant, Seattle, Washington.
