Jan. 10 American jet tanker aircraft arrive - breaking New York - London record. Fifteen killed as one crashes.: A giant American jet tanker plane - k.C. 135 - crashed today just after leaving Westover Air force base, Mass. for London on a Transatlantic record attempt. All fifteen men last their lives, including six American journalists - and Brig General Donald Saunders Commander of the 57th. Air Division, who was leading the record attempt. It crashed in an area known aas Chicopee Falls. The machine was the third of the four leaving on the attempt. the fourth machine was stopped. The other two flew on alone - and shattered the record.
