Aircraft - Aviation - Balloons - Helicopters

Mar. 22 Heroine of Aviation in Bitter Distress: Mrs. Tony Werntgen is now 80 years old. When she in 1909 with all her money more than 200.000 - Gold Marks) founded the first German institution for aviation in the small village Koeppern in the Taurus mountains and was beginning to train pilots and to build planes then she had no idea that she would once live for the remaining last years of her life on the small support and relief of 70. - German Marks. The remaining part of her property she had also invested in the construction of the air-port Bonn - Hanglear. Mentally as well as physically Mrs. Werntgen is still strong enough and it remains to be seen if she still once will come in the possession of an allowance of such an amount which she got by the end of the war. This depends, however, on Bonn from where also this case has to be decided. And Bonn is that town where still a street bears the name Werntgen'. Mrs. Werntgen and her son Bruno who was then with 16 years the youngest pilot in the world when starting with a plane built by themselves. Two years later she had to look on how he was crashing before her eyes
