Mar. 22 Airplane Designer Heinrich Focke Will be 85 On October 8TH The German airplane designer Heinrich Focke will become 85 on October 8th 1975. 1908 he started with the building of planes - with a some what odd gilder the first big jumps were made at the Osterdeich in Bremen, his native town. 13 years later, as he had just finished his studies at the technical university in Hanover, he got the official permittance for his first plane, the A 7. 1924, the Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau AG was founded, which produced until 1933. 29 different airplane types, where of the 13-seat A-38 (for the Lufthansa) was the most popular one. But then Heinrich Focke turned to helicopters - 1936 he constructed the F-61, with which all the world records of this airplane type were broken. It caused a real sensation when 1938 Hanna Reitsch and chief-pilot Bode flew the F-61 up to the roof of the Deutschlandhalle in Berlin.
