Mar. 22 M. Sets ready for 1909 Repeat hope (illegible) the channel in Replica of the Bleriot machine: All arrangements have been made and only ideal weather conditions are awaited for the attempt at repeating the 1909 Crossing of the Channel by M. Jean Salis who is using a replica of the frail machine used by M. Louis Bleriot to fly the channel 46 years ago. The machine travels at 45 mph. Also making arrangements to fly the Channel in another replica of the Bleriot machine is 27 year old M. Jean de la Bruyere from Edmonton Canada. His machine is due in Calais on Thursday from Canada having been delayed by the recent British Dock strike. Now M. Salis hopes to be able to complete his flight before his Canadian rival. Photo shows M. Jean Salis (right) talks with his rival M. Jean De La Bruyere at Calais. Only a slight breeze holds up the former's departure while the latter awaits the arrival of his machine from Canada
