Fighter Planes Span Pacific In 17 Hours - Usual Time Is 17Days: A Squardon of U.S. Marine Corps F8U-2Nfighter lanes have flown from U.S.A. to Japan in 17 hours. If they had done trip in an aircraft carrier, which is the usual method, they would have taken 17 days. The 18 plane squadron took off from E1 Toro, California, and landed at Atsugi Naval Air Station in Japan, after their 8493 miles flight. The fighter planes also known as Crusader Jets were re-fulled in the air from giant GV-1 Hercule flying tankers. During the transpacific crossing the fighters flew at 40, 000 feet. Apart perform the speed in crossing from USA to Japan, the cost is only the one third of being brought to Kapan by an aircraft carrier.
