Mar. 31 Biggest props for biggest transport Flying with the Royal Air Force is Britain largest air transport, the 100-foot-long Blackburn Beverley, first British aircraft designed expecially for dropping heavy military equipment by parachute. The plane can be used also as troop carrier or air ambulance. Despite its size, it can operate from 1, 000-year runways and can float down to land in almost helicopter-like manner. It is powered by four Bristol Centaurus engines.
