Trial Use of Helicopters by Police: An experiment in the use of helicopters for police work will be carried out by the Ha Office Police Research and Planning Branch for six months commencing in March 1967. With the co-operation of the Ministry of Defence. Sioux helicopters based on No.2 Wing, Army Air Corps, Netheravon, will be used in the experiment which will determine on a cost effectiveness basis, the police requirements for helicopters and also their usefulness. Proving trials with one machine an Army Air Corps helicopter, have commenced and will continue until March next year. During this period a number of police observers from the participating forces will be selected and trained in air observation and communication procedures. Photo shows SGT.
