Sep. 09, 1961 - Designers working on 160 m.p.h hovercraft: Designers are working on a hovercraft which will skin over land, sea and deserts at 160 mph. yesterday the Vickers VA-1 research hovercraft skimmed along the runway at South Marston, Swindon, give inches from the ground.
