Jun. 29, 1960 - The Alouette III just completed mountain tests in the massif of Mont-Blanc from the 8th to the 22nd of June. During the tests, different high altitude platforms were used, including the furthest point of Mont-Blanc where several landings were made. These trials allowed them to decide with precision the admissible weight of the equipment for the landings or take off altitudes; it also allowed them to study the performance on the snow of skids specially made to prevent the equipment from sinking all while preventing it from sliding. At the end of these trials, the Alouette III completed the Fayet-le Bourget direct route (480 km) in two hours and 40 minutes with 5 people on board.
