Aug. 08, 1960 - The Skyvan Light Freighter: Short Brothers have announced details of their SC.7 Skyvan light freighter aircraft, which will carry 1 1/2 tons of almost anything and operate safely at full load from any half-mile field, clearing or strip. The company is building two prototype aircraft and the first of these is due to fly in mid -1961. The SC. 7 is virtually the flying equivalent of the 30 cwt. van, and can carry 15 passengers or troops. Shorts believe that there is an excellent market for the Skyvan with, in particular, good export potential in countries such as Africa, South America, Canada and Australia.
