In the super plane which never takes off Although the Concord is not expected to come into service until 1971, BOAC is now training pilots at Heathrow training base, to get the feel of supersonic flight in a mockup of a Concord flight deck. It is in fact the nose section of a Comet air liner adapted to simulate supersonic travel. In their training the pilots fly the mock-up Concord between Britain and America once a week, in the flight the pilots have to contend with all types of simulated conditions, hurricanes, and they have to fly at many different altitudes, supersonic etc. Keystone Photo Shows: Picture taken with a 180 degree fisheye lens inside the mock-up during a flight to the United States at the BOAC Training Centre at Heathrow
