Oct. 10, 1966 - Arrested Landing: An F4B 11 fighter was the first plane to test the newly installed arrasting landing equipment at Da Nang, Vietnam. The equipment is designed to provide safe landings for aircraft under adverse conditions. As the plane is about to land, the pilot releases a stern landing hock which engages a steel wire stretched across the runway and connected to two reels which are geared to retard the landing speed
