Nov. 11, 1966 - Japanese Human Bomb Displayed: An Oka ( cherry blossom ) Kamikaze glider bomb, used by the Japanese Navy during the Pacific War Tokyo, during the Japan Aeronautic Association Air Show The human bomb was carried to its target suspended beneath a bomber and released, to be guided onto its target by a suicide pilot seated in its cookpit. After trials in 1944, 800 were produced, but only eight attacks were made with them. After the war ended 50 of them were found undamaged. The Kamikaze human bombs were 5 metres wide, 6.06 meter long, and weighed 2.3 tons including 1.2 tons of explosive. They attained a speed of 360 Knots as they glided to their targets at a steep angle.
